8 days until the Golden Heart and Rita awards!

flower 8Just over a week until the award ceremony! I’m excited – and I know a lot of other people who are, too.

But more than anticipation of hearing whose name will be called on July 20th, I’m excited for the conference experience. In the past, workshops and pitch opportunities have been my focus. This year will be different. Networking is always a big part of conference-going, but this is the first time I’ve had so many new people with whom to connect. How exciting!

Our Golden Heart® group, the Lucky 13s, is full of wonderful women with big personalities, and we’ve developed a bond over the past few months. I get to meet more of them next week, although after reading so many of their blogs, I feel like they are already old friends.

I’m also looking forward to catching up with friends I’ve met at past conferences, or in online classes.

And this doesn’t count the deepening of the relationships with members of my local chapter, Louisville Romance Writers. It’s always fun to share rides, hotel rooms, luncheon speeches, and workshop notes with friends. We’ll miss Angie, whose plans took a detour, and Lisa, who’s never missed a conference (as far as I know). It’s going to be Ru’s first conference, and we’ll do our best to make sure it’s the best it can be for her!

Today’s plans? Work on my pitches, and start wrapping up loose ends. Tuesday will be here before I know it… 🙂
